Diolase 10 laser combines a unique wavelength and high power (10,000 milliwatts) which results in a faster, more effective treatment of acute and chronic pain. The Diolase is a Class IV or Hot Laser Therapy and is a non-invasive, pain and side effect free solution for relief of pain in muscles, nerves, ligaments, tendons, joints and scar tissue. It's TEN TIMES more powerful than Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) or "cold" laser. You feel the heat at the point of pain. Low level or cold laser devices built the foundation for treatment of pain for over a decade but are just that: "Low Level." More power equals faster results. It works phenomenally well on stubborn areas of pain and is safe for use with nearly all patient types including those with surgical hardware and implanted devices like artificial knees, hips, and even pacemakers.
AREAS OF USE:
Pain Management - Diolase 10™ is the cutting edge of pain relief. Receiving laser therapy treatments can shift you out of your pain and increase your quality of life. Your level of pain severity will determine how often you should receive laser therapy.
Sports Injuries - Using Diolase 10™ , coupled with our existing protocols, assures you the most advanced and effective form of treatment for sports injuries. Our high-power laser allows for deep penetrative treatment of several connective areas within the injury. Diolase 10™ reduces both long and short-term side effects of injuries and accelerates the rate and quality of healing. In some cases, factures have even healed at a multiplied speed.
Other - If you have pain that is of a neuro-musculo-skeletal origin, you may be a candidate for laser therapy. This includes:
Does the laser treatment hurt?
During treatment the patient will feel a soothing warmth or mild tingling. Treated areas may be slightly sensitive for a brief time after the procedure.
Are there any risks or side effects from the K-laser?
The healing response is more active after treatment, which may result in mild aggravation of old injuries. This is just a natural healing response to the treatment. There have been no other risks reported with this treatment.
How often would I be treated?
Some acute conditions will need to be treated daily for maximum results which will relieve significant pain. Other chronic conditions respond best when treatments are received 2 to 3 times a week initially. Then your treatments will only be necessary once a week until full benefit is reached.
How long does the treatments take?
Five to ten minutes is the average treatment time. Actual treatment time is dependent on the size of the area being treated.
How many treatments do I need?
Depending on your particular condition some patients respond within 5 treatments. Other chronic conditions may require 10-20 treatments with your pain level decreasing as you are treated. Few conditions require ongoing care to maintain pain relief. These treatments would be periodic and as needed.
How long before I feel results?
Often patients begin to feel a reduction in pain after their first visit. Each treatment compliments the course of care and most patients feel lasting results after just 5 or 6 sessions.
Are you a potential candidate?
If you have pain that is of a neuro-musculo-skeletal origin, you may be a candidate for laser therapy. This includes arthritis, arthralgia, back pain, bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, chondromalacia patellae, fibromyalgia, heel spurs or plantar fasciitis, migraine headaches, neck pain/whiplash, nerve root pain, postoperative pain, repetitive stress injuries, TM joint pain, tendonitis, tennis elbow, contusions, strains and sprains, disc degeneration and herniation and the accompanying swelling of these areas. If you have the wound that is slow to heal and has been resistant to treatment, you may be a candidate for laser therapy. This includes slow healing fractures, as well as soft tissue injuries and ulcers. If you have multiple trigger points (sore spots in the muscles) that do not go away, you may be a candidate for laser therapy. This includes areas associated with fibromyalgia.
Why did you come in for laser pain therapy?
Eight months ago, I started having pain on my heels and arch of my feet. I was in such excrutiating pain that I could not walk barefooted. Planter Fasciitis!!! I had been in such pain that I tried everything. Mornings were so hard to start. Getting out of bed was very painful.
What other pain management therapies did you consider?
I had read so much on the subject and surgery is always the answer, however I had spoken to several people that had had it done and they were still in pain if not more. I read that Dr. Helton had just started offering the Laser therapy so again, off to see Dr. Helton...
How did our laser pain therapy affect your life?
After the first treatment I felt fantastic! I walked out and put on FLAT shoes and felt NO pain. I went back for 2 more treatments and felt great. I told Dr. Helton that it felt so odd not to have pain in the mornings. I had one more treatment 2 weeks later and feel great.
What would you say to others considering laser pain therapy?
I have let anybody that knows my story know about it and how it beats surgery anythime. On a scale of 1-10 my pain coming in the 1st time was 9. After 4 treatments, pain level is 1!!!! I would recommend it to everybody.
Mandy Cruz

DISC DECOMPRESSION
New Hope for those suffering from Spinal Disc problems...without drugs or surgery!
Spinal Decompression Therapy is FDA cleared and has a high success rate for pain associated with herniated or bulging discs...even after failed surgery. It is a non-surgical, traction based therapy for the relief of back and leg pain or neck and arm pain. During this procedure, by cycling through distraction and relaxation phases and by proper positioning , a spinal disc can be isolated and placed under negative pressure, causing, a vaccuum effect within it. The traction takes pressure off of delicate nerve and soft tissue structures that are typically the cause of "disc" pain.
Who can benefit from Spinal Decompression?
Anyone who has back pain or neck pain caused in whole or in part by a damaged disc may be helped by spinal decompression therapy these conditions include:

Benefits of Massage
Stress, injury and limited or repetitive motion can cause muscle pain and discomfort; even immobility of the joint. Massage therapy is a great way to help restore the body to a healthier condition.
Studies have shown that getting massages on a regular basis can help:
Physiologically speaking, massage improves a person's health. Our muscles create waste and blood is supposed to come and clean up that waste. However, poor circulation, which hinders the "clean-up" process, is the foundation for the tension in problem spots. Massage manually squeezes the toxins out and flushes blood into the affected area so that it can do its job.

My name is Erin Bartlett and I was raised in Vancouver, Washington where I graduated from the Cedar Mountain School of Massage in 2003. There, I was given 700 hours of training in a variety of massage techniques. Upon graduating, I became nationally certified and moved to Texas, getting state certified here. I originally settled in Big Spring, TX to attend the Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf where I earned my degree in Sign Language Interpreting. I have kept up with all of the continuing education required to keep my certifications, and now both massage and interpret here in Lubbock, where I currently live.
am confident in my skills as a massage therapist; specializing in deep tissue massage. My goal is to help a person achieve their full potential of mobility and comfort. I enjoy the challenge of trying to figure out what action is causing the issue so things can be done to prevent the problem from happening again. There are stretches that can be done, ways of reprogramming muscles, and habits that can be broken in order to avoid future cranky muscles. Of course, I also am capable of giving a relaxation massage that will leave you drooling on my arm cradle and snortling yourself awake.
Although I am not a dietitian nor nutritionalist and unable to give "advice" on the subjects, I do have a healthy knowledge of such things. Unless a "quiet" massage is requested, I tend to inform my clients of things they may benefit from. For example; I explain what is usually the cause of those annoying little bumps on the backs of their arms, some other signs of the deficiency, what they could take or eat to remedy the issue, and some locations to purchase such things. I honestly am motivated by the potential of helping people better their health, and get excited from the success stories.
Deep Tissue
If you like that "good hurt" kind of massage, then you would most likely prefer Deep Tissue or therapeutic massage. These terms are interchangeable and mean that you are willing to let the pressure get a bit uncomfortable; knowing it is going to make it better for you in the long run. It's similar in application to Swedish massage but reaches much deeper levels, squeezing out toxins that are disrupting the body's normal function. The goal is to find the balance between just feeling it and too intense, which is about a 3-4 on the pressure scale.
Trigger Point
A "trigger point" is a tight spot in a muscle that refers pain to another place in the body. For example, a knot under the shoulder blade can cause pain to the connecting arm, all the way down to the wrist. This technique requires the client to become more actively involved with helping the therapist pin point the trigger and then communicating pressure changes while deep breathing through a series of "pressure and releases" applied by the therapist's fingertips, thumb or elbows. I promise, no knees. :)
Swedish
Swedish massage is one of the most popular forms currently offered in the states. It focuses on relaxing the body by rubbing, stroking an kneading the muscles. The point of this type of massage is to not cause any kind of discomfort, but rather melt into a pile of putty on the table; to forget the world exists for the duration of the massage. This would be your typical 2-3 massage on the pressure scale.
Prenatal
During pregnancy, the mommy-to-be's body is undergoing a lot of changes. Massage can't help with all of them, but it can truly ease a good deal of them. The prenatal massage is performed with the client lying on her side with pillows to support her. There are some different moves that are particularly enjoyed by most pregnant clients but for the most part, the only real differences is the positioning on the table and possibly the amount of pressure she is able to handle due to the change in hormones affecting her perception of pain. High risk pregnancies should get a Dr.'s permission before receiving massages.
Reflexology
The human body has electrical or energetic freeways running through it called meridians. These freeways end in the hands, feet and ears. My specialty is with the feet. A tender place on any of the above can be indicative of something going on in the correlating area of the body. I personally have used this to treat sinus congestion, migraines, headaches, and pain left from scar tissue caused during surgery. This treatment can also encourage pregnant moms to deliver sooner rather than later and ease the pain of an area so it can tolerate physical tough enough to receive a massage there. Although reflexology is not intended to diagnose issues, I have definitely encouraged clients to get things checked out by medical professionals after a session.
Jean Harlan - Back and Hip Pain
What did you come to the clinic for?
I came to see Dr Helton because of constant back and hip pain. I was apprehensive because I have suffered for so long.
I had tried other chiropractic services - several temporary relief. Acupuncture plus massage therapy.
I have noticed a real change. Besides my pain being better, I have a sense of wellbeing, desire to start losing weight. I'm more active.
I'm more active so in turn I feel better physically and mentally. Before I started treatments I was limited to certain activities so I wasn't as active.
Any additional information you would like to add?
The people who work at the clinic are friendly, so is Dr. Helton. It's a joy to come in for treatments.
Mike Hughes - Lower Back Pain
Lower back pain. It hurt to get out of bed.
I tried creams, ointments, and stretches.
Less discomfort. Able to be my "old" self again.
Able to enjoy family time without having to take time to let back heal or feel better. I still see Dr. Helton on a regular basis for occasional adjustments.
Helton Chiropractic not only treats myself, but also has seen all members of my family. Mandy got my son in within hours of a sports injury. Dr. Helton saw him and treated the same day. I have recommended his service to several friends.
Sandra Hays - Neck Pain
I had problems turning my neck from side to side. I also had some lower back pain.
I came soon after the problem began due to urging from my daughter, who is a patient.
My neck, back and shouldrs feel so much better. I can turn my head and it doesn't hurt! I can see behind me in the car by turning my head and not my entire body.
I feel more relaxed and feel its improving all the time.
I've thanked my daughter for referring me for treatment. The office staff is so friendly and helpful.
Karen Sonnenfelt - Leg and Back Pain
Severe shooting pains down my leg due to back problems. I was getting married in less than a month and needed help!
Aleve, back stretches, and massage therapy
I can sleep all night - no more pain!
Since I work on my laptop all day I need flexibility in my neck and back - Dr. Helton has improved my quality of life!
Anyone who doubts chiropractic care needs to try it first - you won't be a doubter for long!
Murrell A. Thompson - Allergies/Acupunture
Chronic sinus infections, allergies and the symptoms associated with them. I had been on several stong antibiotics and taken steroid injections since November.
I took several strong antibiotics; used presecription nasal spray; took Zyrtec daily; had injections of steroids, Rocephin, Kenalog.
After one treatment I was 75% or more better. After two treatments, I am symptom free and on no type of medication whatsoever.
Before treatment, I felt lethargic all the time. I was tired and run down and didn't sleep well. I felt like I had a cold or the flu all the time. Now I have more energy. I feel like doing more and going places. I feel more like my old self.
I was always skeptical of "acupunture". I trusted Dr. Jason and when he recommended I try it I had faith in his opinion. Had he not suggested it, I would never have considered it.
Dusty Hart - Allergies/Acupunture
I came to bring my mom and stepdad for their treatments. I noticed the sign on the wall about acupuncture. I talked to the girls behind the counter. They were very positive and upbeat about treatment so I decided to give it a try.
I have used all kinds of allergy medication and over-the-counter and prescription. They seem to work but are costly.
I can breathe a lot better. I had first treament before I went to a week of stockshowing. They usually stop me up and I have problems weeks after. Today (2/24/10) I am having a second treatment. I still can breathe and am not feeling any symptoms from allergies from the stockshow!
I have always had allergies and I get sinus infections periodically. The treatment before I went to a week of stockshows helped out. I can't tell you in words how this makes me feel. I can breathe. I also am bringing in my son who has bad allergies, we will write testimonials after his treatments.
I am deathly afraid of needles. The girls up front told me that they are too but the acupuncture would not hurt. They were right in all aspects. It stung a little bit the relief was well worth it.
Maggie Gray - Ear Infections
Maggie had an ear infection for about six weeks straight. She had been on 4 different antibiotics with no success at clearing the infection. She had gone from sleeping really well to getting up multiple times a night crying and tugging at her ear.
We went to the pediatrician multiple times and tried four different antibiotics. When nothing worked, she referred us to an ENT specialist and said she thought we were headed for tubes. Going under anesthesia was a scary thought for mommy! Maggie was not even a year old.
We have been back to the ENT specialist and her ears are clear! No infection and no fluid! She no longer pulls at her ears at all!
Maggie has been sleeping great now! She has been sleeping all night without crying. She is happy and healthy again!! We are so blessed not to have had to do surgery to fix this problem.
Thanks to prayers and Dr. Helton, Maggies ears are healthy! When friends recommended chiropractic work for my baby I was skeptical and scared, but Dr. Helton was fantastic and we saw the results. During adjustments Maggie either smiles and laughs or gets totally relaxed and zones out completely. We have been so impressed with the results and would definitely recommend other families try this before going through with tubes!
